Hi Heather,

Thanks for dropping by. I think that's why I love hockey - it's the perfect combination of strategy, finesse, and violence. I grew up in Michigan; we know this. But down here in NC, an awful lot of people still think that all hockey players are the Hansen Brothers.

Hiya! This is a really intriguing post for me, on a number of levels. Surface level, because I'm the wife of a 20-year hockey vet and the mother of a vet-in-the works. I chuckle at your suggestion that people abandon hockey sterotypes because in my opinion, it's a game of intense strategy and synchronized teamwork as it is physical endurance (and demonstration :-)). But your real gold nugget is the suggestion of changing one's strategic perspective...donning the mask (so to speak) of one's opponent to see things through their eyes and then constructing a countermeasure. And oh-so succinctly written, too (something I never could accomplish!) Thank you! Heather
